It is my pleasure to state that the 16th annual national CDSS conference was a wonderful success; a success in terms of information, organization and networking opportunities. To think that just a few short months ago we were in the infancy stages of planning a national event, and now we are looking back on a weekend that won't soon be forgotten.
Key to the success of this event was the unwavering dedication of a ten member conference organizing committee. The committee, most of who have never participated in putting together such an event, worked tirelessly at ensuring that even the most intricate details were worked out. Throughout the weekend it became evident that the hard work paid off as positive comments were plenty.
The weekend of excellent professional presentations and networking was enhanced by the opportunity to socialize with fascinating individuals with Down syndrome. This opportunity left those attending with a real sense of optimism as they were able to encounter first hand the ability and accomplishments of individuals with Down syndrome.
Events like these are a refreshing reminder that we are making gains in the areas of awareness, medicine and education. We are very fortunate to have so many wonderful people contributing to our endeavors to make life better for individuals with Down syndrome. Personally, I believe the conference should provide us with the rejuvenation we need in order to attain the goals of the NLDSS. Once again, thank you to everyone involved.
